Joshimath is easily reached from places like Pauri, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Rishikesh and Srinagar among others.
By Train:- Rishikesh, which is the closest railway station, is around 250 km from Joshimath. As you might know, Rishikesh is very well connected by rail route with all the popular tourist destinations of India. So, you can arrive at Rishikesh by train and cover the remaining distance by road (via cab).
