“Lansdowne” is one of the quietest and stunning hill stations in PauriGarhwal district of Uttarakhand. This beautiful hill station is surrounded by lush green forest of thick oak and blue pine. The area has also been the cantonment of army. It is perched at an elevation of 1706 meters above the sea level. The town is tucked away at a distance of 81 kilometers from Pauri district in Uttarakhand. People across the country come here to refresh their mind and soul, escaping from the bustle of cities. Its captivated and charming beauty keeps attracting visitors from far and wide, all round the year.

Main Attractions: -

Garhwali Mess in Lansdowne: It is one of the oldest buildings. This Garhwali Mess building was constructed by the British in January 1988. The mess kept alive the rich heritage of the hilly town. The mess is considered as a museum in Asia combining of wild animal skins, furnishings and trophies.

St. Mary's Church in Lansdowne: The Church was established by the Col. A.H.B Hume of the Royal Engineers in 1895. The church is adjacent to the Tip-In-Top point one of the popular destinations in Lansdowne. During 1947 the church was no longer used because of its bad condition. After that the Garhwal Rifles Regimental center turned this church into a museum.

Tip-In-Top in Lansdowne: Is situated closer to the St. Mary's Church surrounded with greeneries. This tourist destination is also very popular by the name of Tiffin Top among the visitors. From this point people can easily see the mighty peaks of Himalaya and some area of Tibet as well.

Hawaghar in Lansdowne: Is a calm, unagitated and tranquil place where people love to visit. Tourists can enjoy seeing the snow capped mountains of the mighty Himalayas. This will also be the best place for trekking lovers. Nature lovers and sightseers visit the destination to experience the beautiful surroundings of Hawaghar.

Bhulla Tal in Lansdowne: It gets its name from the Garhwali word, Bhulla which means younger brother. It is an artificial lake constructed by young Garhwali youth of Garhwal Rifles. You can enjoy the boating and paddling here. Apart from it also contains bamboo machan, a children park and fountains. It is one of the main attractions in Lansdowne.

Tarkeshwar Mahadev Temple in Lansdowne: The temple is devoted to lord Shiva. It is one of the oldest temples in the town, and is said that the deity here fulfils ones wishes. It is surrounded by blue pine forests, dense deodars and oak trees.

Regimental Museum in Lansdowne: Is a motivational hall which named after popular Darban Singh Negi. The museum houses various antique pieces, belonging to the Garhwal Rifles. The museum was established in 1983.

By Air:- The nearest airport is Dehradun, it is located at 174 kilometers away from Lansdowne.

By Road:- Lansdown is well connected via road to most of the cities of Uttarakhand and North India. There is well connected with public and private buses throughout the state along with some major cities of north India. You can also take taxi or cars on rent to reach other places via road.

By Train:- The nearest railway station is Kotdwar, which is about 43 kilometers away from the town. From railway station you can easily get the privet taxi or you can take bus to reach there.


SHOPPING: -

Shopping in Lansdowne, its charm and serenity, and you won’t find much of the commercial activity. There no shopping mall options available in Lansdowne, but few limited local shops are available to fulfil basic requirement of local people and as well tourist.
