“Ranikhet” one of the most beautiful hill station in Almora district of Uttarakhand.The meaning of Ranikhet is Queen's meadow or Queen’s Land. This beautiful destination surrounded by the Himalaya and lush green forests which offers the stunning view of the pine, oak, and deodar forest along with spectacular view of Himalaya. The pleasing weather of Ranikhet stays well around the year. This hilly resort combines Alpine type of atmosphere. The summer's hotness keeps itself far from extreme and continues from April to June. The winters bring chilly weather and remains from November to February. In the months of December and January a sufficient amount of snow fall can be seen. Due to the southwestern monsoon July and August comes with heavy rainfall in this beautiful town.

Main Attractions: -

Chaubatia Orchard in Ranikhet: It isthe main area of Ranikhet, located just 10 kilo meters away. The Chaubatia Orchard is equipped with at least 200 varieties of fruits and flowers. Those who take interest in enjoying the flora and fauna, they must visit this sits. From this site tourist can also see the beautiful snowcapped peaks of Nanda Devi, Trishul, Nilkanth and Nandaghunti.

Jhula Devi Temple & Ram Mandir in Ranikhet: The temple was constructed during the 8th century AD. The shrine is counted among the oldest temples of Uttarakhand state as well. The dome is about 7 kilo meters away from Ranikhet. The temple is offered to the lady Goddess Durga who is also known as the Hindu Goddess of Power. It is conceived by the people that if someone hang up a bell in the temple during the wish, the wish will be fulfilled.

Rani Jheel in Ranikhet: This is one of the interesting and impressing destinations of Ranikhet town. Rani Jheel is an artificial lake developed in between the two natural ridges of the city, Canossa Convent School and KendriyaVidyalaya. This Jheel was made by the Cantonment board for rain water harvesting. Rani Jheel also draws the minds of the people here a lot.

Nanda Devi Mela in Ranikhet: The Nanada Devi Temple is the place where Nanda Devi Mela happens. The Nanda Devi Mela has remained the essence of the cultural significance in the region. The main reason behind this mela is to give honor to the Goddess, Nanda Devi and Sunanda Devi. It was 16th century when Raja Kalyan Chand ruled over the area, hence the fair was begun. Nanada Devi Mela is held in the month of September every year.

Upat and Kalika in Ranikhet: These destinations are very popular for its magnificent snow covered mountains of Himalayan, and is situated at a distance of 5 kilometer from Ranikhet. At this area there is an Army Golf Course which very interesting for Golf lovers. The name of Kalika is taken from the very much popular Kali temple located 1 kilo meter in the town from Upat.

Mankameshwar Temple in Ranikhet: The Mankameshwar shrine was existed in the year 1987 by Indian Army's Kumaon Regimental Centre. There are three deities in this shrine are Ma Kalika, Lord Shiva and Radha-Krishna. It is the perfect place for sightseers providing the pleasant atmosphere round the year. A few steps away from the temple there is a Sikh Gurudwara and woolen factories.

Dwarahat in Ranikhet: It is one of the most popular historical villages in the town. In 16th century, it is located at the distance of 38 kilometers from the town of Ranikhet. It was the capital of the Katyuri Kingdom as well as a power centre for the rulers of the kingdom. The main attraction of the place is its ancient temples such as Mrityunjaya, Maniyan, Badnirath, KachriDevtas etc.

By Air:- The nearest airport is Dehradun, which is located at about 295 kilometers away from Ranikhet. It is well connected with all major cities of India. From airport you can take privet taxi or bus to reach there.

By Road:- Ranikhet is well routed via road to all major cities in India. One can easily get regular buses to Ranikhet from other major cities of the country.

By Train:- The town does not have any train station, the nearest railway station is Kathgodam which is about 85 Kilometres away from the Ranikhet. It is well connected with all main cities of India.

Shopping in Ranikhet, it is most enjoyable. a number of shops in the town offers lots of items such as Himalayan bags, Local Handicrafts, Wooden Crafts by local artist, Pullovers, Woolen Caps, Local wine, Jams and Squashes and best decorative items made from wood. The main market is The Mall road.
